Why I Had to Write "The Stanhām Chronicles"

As a father of three sons, I spend a lot of time looking for stories that will capture their imaginations. But more and more, I found myself coming up empty-handed.

It feels like modern storytelling has lost its way. Too often, when I pick up a new book or turn on a show, it feels like the story is secondary to an agenda. It feels like the creators are more concerned with "checking boxes" than they are with crafting a narrative that truly inspires.

I noticed this void specifically when it came to stories for boys.

We have moved away from showing young men that there is value in strength and tradition. Instead, the cultural current seems to flow in the opposite direction, often at the expense of a good story.

I found myself disagreeing with the version of morality that modern media was trying to sell to my kids.

I wanted something different for them. I wanted them to read about characters who face overwhelming odds not with cynicism, but with grit. I wanted them to understand that "doing the right thing" isn't about following a trend—it is about finding the strength, at all costs, to protect what you love and defend your way of life.

That is why I wrote The Stanhām Chronicles.

I wanted to give my sons—and yours—a story about Theodric, Henric, and Wulfstan. Three brothers who aren’t perfect, but who are undeniably committed to one another. I wanted to write a series where the virtues of courage, loyalty, and responsibility aren't treated as outdated concepts, but as the necessary tools for survival.

If you are a parent looking for an adventure that respects those values, I hope you’ll give these books a try.
