A New Danger, An Unseen Arrow: The Stanhām Chronicles Book 3 is Here!
Hello again, and thank you for the wonderful support you’ve shown for the first two books in The Stanhām Chronicles. In The Hound on the Hill, we saw the brothers face a danger born from local legend. In The Wild Men of the Wood, that threat became terrifyingly real with the arrival of human enemies.
Now, in the third installment of the series, the danger is something else entirely. It’s a threat that strikes from the shadows, a danger you can’t fight with a spear or shield. I’m so excited to announce that Book 3, The Elf-shot Arrow, is available now.
The adventure begins not with a roar or a clash of steel, but with a cry of pain. While picking berries on a sunny afternoon, young Wulfstan is bitten by something unseen in the bushes. What seems at first like a simple wound quickly becomes a terrifying ordeal. A strange sickness takes hold, with a burning fever and a swift, unnatural swelling that spreads up his leg, leaving the village healers baffled .
As Wulfstan’s condition worsens, the people of Stanhām are faced with a chilling question: is this a natural ailment, or a supernatural attack? The boys’ great-grandfather, Hringwulf, is certain he knows the cause. He recounts a chilling campfire tale of the ancient, cruel
ælf (elves) who are said to dwell in the green burial mounds across the river . He claims they strike trespassers with invisible, poison-tipped arrows—the dreaded "elf-shot"—causing the very sickness that now grips Wulfstan .
But Runa, the healer’s daughter, believes the cause is a powerful venom that requires a specific remedy: a poultice made from fresh broadleaf. The catch? The plant grows most potently in the one place the boys have been warned never to go—the damp, shadowed ground near the ancient mounds.
To save their brother, Theodric and Henric must undertake a desperate quest. They must cross the river and venture into the heart of a legend, unsure if they are facing a natural danger or the wrath of the ancient spirits Hringwulf warned them about.
I can’t wait for you to join the brothers on this next perilous journey. It delves deeper into the clash between folklore and reality that defined the Anglo-Saxon world, and asks what it truly means to be brave when the enemy is unseen.
