More Than a Hunt: A Test of Courage in The Night at the Neck
Today, I am proud to announce the release of the fourth book in The Stanhām Chronicles, The Night at the Neck.
This story is about a turning point. With the village warriors still away at war, the responsibilities of men begin to fall on the shoulders of boys. A severe drought threatens a hungry winter, and the survival of the village depends on a desperate, large-scale hunt. For the first time, Theodric and Henric are invited to join, not as observers, but as participants tasked with learning the "hard lessons of providing and protecting".
The hunt will test their strength and endurance, but the true challenge is where it leads them: to a treacherous, mist-shrouded marsh known as the Neck. It is a place shadowed by Hringwulf’s terrifying legends of a grieving, vengeful water-spirit that haunts the reeds. The boys must spend the night there, forcing them to confront fears both real and imagined.
When a crisis erupts in the dead of night, Theodric and Henric must make a choice that goes beyond following orders. They are faced with a test of courage that will define them, forcing them to act not as the boys they were, but as the men they are becoming.
The Night at the Neck explores what it means to take on responsibility, to earn your place in the shield wall, and to find your courage when you are needed most. Thank you for continuing this journey with the brothers of Stanhām.
